I grew up in a small town in Pennsylvania with my four older sisters and my mom and dad. I loved to hunt and fish with my dad and played baseball and basketball through high school. As a Pennsylvanian, I grew up rooting for the Pittsburgh Steelers and Pirates and am still an avid fan of both teams today. My childhood dream was to attend Penn State. It was the only college I applied to and luckily I was accepted. I graduated with a degree in meteorology. From there I went to the U.S. Navy's officer candidate school (OCS) in Newport, RI and became a supply officer. The Navy is what brought me to Jacksonville where I met my lovely wife, Alicia. We were married in 1989 and have three children. Morgan, Zach, and Noah are 22, 20 and 14 and all still live in the Jacksonville area. Noah and I love to play golf.
I began my education career with the urging and support of my wife at Chets Creek Elementary in January of 2001. After teaching and coaching there for 13 years, I took a position with Duval county as a district math specialist. A little over a year later, I had the opportunity to work for the Florida Department of Education as a school improvement specialist. I worked in this position until the grant ended in July, 2015. I am now looking forward to continuing the great work being done at Seaside Community Charter School! |
